Aug 12 was the final day of our "Guardians of the natural world " summer program for children age 6 to 12.
We explored the gifts of nature this week with hands on activity, art, play, music, walks etc. This last day we had with us our guest Elizabeth Mathers from "Salal and cedar" to help and direct the installation of a pollinator garden facing south in front of the church!
This was made possible by a grant from the diocese, as well by the generous donation of beautiful plants from our local garden centre "Grow And Gather" on Dewdney Trunk
Stay tuned, there are more photos and stories to follow about our fun and meaningful week!

Bell Ringing for Peace at Holy Spirit

Our next door neighbours, Earl, and Aamir and Ahmad from the Garden of Heaven mosque; our MP, Marc Dalton; the Vice-President of the Whonnock Community Association, Bernard; and eight members of Holy Spirit parish, all masked and distanced, rang the steeple bell 102 times on November 11.  The neighbourhood, which is usually asked to come and help ring, were instead invited to go outside and listen or tune in online.  This has become a significant event on the community calendar.  Several stories were shared of wartime courage of participants' family members in seeking peace - as a paratrooper, a resistance worker, a nurse, and shell-shock victims after WWI  trenches.
